GPS with phone

Getting Bluetooth GPS device was one of those “I just want to have one even though I really don’t know what to do with it” purchases. I finally gave up during Christmas holiday and got myself Insmat InsSiRF III toy.

I have Route66 with U.K. maps and TomTom with nordic maps in my phone and I have to say I’m slightly disappointed with it. It’s totally unusable inside a train and pretty much unusable inside a bus. One of the execuses I had to get one was to not get lost when using busses in London and it seems that I still have to keep on looking out of the window while trying to guess where I am.

One the other hand it works reasonably well if received is in top pocket of my backbag and I used it today to get somekind of idea which way I was walking in Hamstead Heath.

Sausages

In my guest to find differences in food between Finland and U.K. I have noticed one rather significant difference: In Finland sausages are almost always pre-cooked and could be eaten as is and in U.K. it’s almost the opposite.

Both countries have small sausages (’nakit’ in Finnish) which are cooked in both countries but they are so bad that I don’t have any reason to buy them expect when making hot dogs (and that’s maybe 2 times a year)
I think getting sausages fresh is really great and recently bough for example ones made from wild boar from Borough Market.

Highgate Cemetery

I went today on a guided tour to Highgate Cemetery. Actually I wasn’t planning to go there but I happened to walk past front gates few minutes before tours was about to start and decided to have look.

It was nothing I expected! Cemetery is straight from some old horror movie (it has been actually used as a set for couple of those!) and they even have resident foxes living there. We didn’t see any but were pointed out their holes.

Tour is given with rather strict rules (no mobile phones, decent clothing, no smoking) and I think it’s only acceptable approach.

Highgate Cemetery is resting place for many famous people and recently Alexander Litvinenko was buried there. His family has asked that grave will not be shown to public so we couldn’t visit it.
